Security Forces Nab KCP(PWG) Extortionist in Manipur Crackdown
Imphal: Security forces in Manipur arrested a suspected extortionist linked to the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (PWG) during a targeted operation in Imphal East district on February 15.
The accused, identified as Wangmayum Muktajuddin (25), also known as Amuba, was apprehended from the Khabeisoi Maning Leikai area under Heingang police station jurisdiction.
According to police sources, Muktajuddin was actively involved in a series of extortion activities, targeting local residents, private businesses, and government officials in the region. His arrest is part of the state’s intensified crackdown on militant outfits, which have been engaging in illegal financial activities to sustain their operations.
The Kangleipak Communist Party (PWG) is a proscribed organization and has been linked to multiple criminal and insurgent activities in the past. Officials have stated that the arrest is a significant breakthrough in curbing extortion networks run by militant groups in the state. Further investigations are underway to trace Muktajuddin’s connections and financial transactions linked to militant funding.
