Security Forces Nab Six KCP Militants in Manipur, Recover Heavy Arms Cache

Imphal: In a major counter-insurgency operation, security forces in Manipur have arrested five militants and apprehended a juvenile linked to the banned outfit Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP Taibanganba).

The arrests were made on February 9 from L. Minou ridgeline in Tengnoupal district, following an intelligence-driven operation.

The individuals taken into custody have been identified as RK Ingo Singh (42), Oinam Herojit (28), Salam Sushil Singh (23), Hijam Mani Meitei (31), and Samjetsabam Manisana Meitei (43). Along with the arrests, security forces seized a large cache of arms and ammunition, including light machine guns (LMGs), INSAS rifles, AK-47 rifles, and bulletproof gear.

The operation also led to the recovery of hundreds of rounds of assorted ammunition, mobile phones, and night-vision equipment, indicating the militants’ operational preparedness.

The crackdown is part of an intensified security effort to neutralize insurgent groups operating in Manipur’s vulnerable border and hill districts.

Security personnel have been conducting frequent search operations and area domination exercises to prevent militant activities and ensure public safety.

Additionally, authorities ensured the safe movement of over 500 vehicles carrying essential supplies along National Highways NH-2 and NH-37, reinforcing supply chains amid heightened security concerns. A total of 109 checkpoints (Nakas) were also set up across the state to monitor movement and curb illegal activities.

The arrests mark a significant success in the fight against insurgency, highlighting the security forces’ proactive approach in dismantling armed networks and safeguarding the region against militant threats. Investigations are ongoing to trace further links of the apprehended individuals and their potential role in subversive activities.
