Security Forces Recover Ammunition, Facilitate Essential Goods Movement in Manipur
Imphal: In a proactive move to maintain peace and security, security forces conducted extensive search operations and area domination exercises across the fringe and vulnerable regions of Manipur’s hill and valley districts. These operations yielded significant results, with authorities recovering a substantial amount of ammunition and explosive materials from different locations.
In the Phayeng Porom Hill, security personnel successfully seized 11 live SLR rounds, one SLR magazine, 66 empty SLR cartridges, and a battery and antenna of a radio set. Similarly, in the K. Songlung area, authorities recovered one misfired AK round, 102 empty AK cartridges, two empty SLR cartridges, one 12-bore cartridge, and a locally made bomb. These recoveries were made during operations conducted in the Phayeng, Songlung, and Chiru regions, encompassing both Imphal West and Kangpokpi districts.
Simultaneously, recognizing the importance of maintaining the flow of essential goods, security forces facilitated the passage of 371 vehicles carrying essential supplies along National Highway-2. Strict security measures, including armed convoys and patrols, were implemented in sensitive stretches to ensure the safe and uninterrupted movement of these vehicles.
To further strengthen law and order, a total of 106 checkpoints were established across various districts of the state, covering both hill and valley regions. Notably, despite the extensive security measures, no detentions were reported during this period for any violations, indicating an effective and controlled environment within the state.
