Security Forces Recover Arms Cache, Enhance Vigilance in Manipur’s Kakching District
Manipur: Security forces in Manipur seized a substantial cache of arms and ammunition during an operation in Kakching district’s Utangpokpi Hill. The search was part of ongoing efforts to maintain security and prevent unrest in the state’s fringe and vulnerable areas.
The seized items included:
• Two country-made 9mm pistols with one magazine
• One .22 rifle with a magazine
• A country-made launcher known as “Pompi”
• One .36 HE grenade
• Six live rounds of ammunition and 27 empty shell casings
• One Lathode empty case
• Two smoke grenades and five tear gas shells
• A “BAOFENG” communication handset, a pistol holster, two bulletproof jackets, one BP plate, and a pair of jungle boots
In addition, Manipur police facilitated the safe transit of essential goods by securing 250 and 12 vehicles along National Highways 37 and 2. Security personnel implemented stringent measures along sensitive routes, providing convoys to ensure safe passage.
To further bolster security, 110 checkpoints have been set up across Manipur’s hill and valley districts. No detentions were reported for checkpoint violations, indicating compliance and the effectiveness of these security measures.
