Security Forces Recover Arms Cache in Manipur, Ensure Safe Movement of Essential Goods

Imphal: In a concerted effort to bolster peace and security, security forces in Manipur conducted extensive search operations and area domination exercises across the state’s hill and valley districts.

These operations yielded significant results in the Kangpokpi district, where a substantial cache of arms and explosives was recovered from L. Jangnomphai and Freedom Hill.

The seized arsenal included a 7.62 mm Self-Loading Rifle, a 9 mm Pistol, a Single-Barrel firearm, a Double-Barrel firearm, a Pompi Gun, four Hand Grenades (No. 36), four Stardyne 90 Explosives, four Electric Detonators, five live 9 mm rounds, three live 7.62 mm rounds, a Tube Launcher, three Detonators (Hand Grenade No. 36), a Baofeng Motorola communication set, and four Anti-Riot Shells.

Concurrently, security forces prioritized the safe movement of essential commodities along National Highway-2 (NH-2). To ensure the uninterrupted flow of goods, stringent security measures were implemented, including the escort of vehicles by security convoys in particularly vulnerable areas.

Furthermore, a network of 106 checkpoints was established across the state, encompassing both hill and valley regions. While no detentions were made during the operations, these checkpoints serve as a crucial component of the overall security strategy to maintain law and order.
