Security Forces Recover Large Cache of Weapons in Manipur During Heightened Search Operations

Northeast Desk, 7th October: In an intensified effort to bolster security and maintain law and order, Manipur’s security forces have carried out sweeping search operations and area domination exercises in the state’s hill and valley districts. These operations, targeting fringe and vulnerable areas, have yielded a significant recovery of arms, ammunition, and tactical gear, reflecting the ongoing vigilance against unrest.

On October 5, a focused search in the Chingkham Ching area of Thoubal District led to the discovery of a substantial stockpile of weaponry. The recovered items include:

  • 1 SMG carbine with magazine
  • 1 Single Shot Barrel Loaded (SSBL) weapon
  • 1 .32 Pistol with magazine
  • 1 INSAS Light Machine Gun (LMG) magazine
  • 1 81mm mortar shell
  • 4 No. 36 HE hand grenades
  • 3 detonators
  • 41 live rounds of ammunition
  • 5 Green Grenade 80mm MK-1

The weapons and explosives, seized as part of a coordinated security effort, highlight the challenges faced by authorities as they work to prevent unrest and ensure the safety of local communities.

In addition to these operations, security personnel also facilitated the safe movement of 349 vehicles carrying essential supplies along National Highway 2, a critical transit route. To secure the passage of goods and materials, convoys were deployed in vulnerable stretches, ensuring continued access to necessary supplies for local populations.

As part of the broader security measures, 109 Naka checkpoints have been established throughout the hill and valley districts. These checkpoints have heightened surveillance and law enforcement, while reports indicate no major violations or detentions, suggesting cooperation between civilians and security forces.

Authorities remain committed to maintaining peace and stability in the region, with plans to enforce further preventive measures to secure Manipur’s key areas and ensure the continued flow of essential resources.
