Security Forces Recover Weapons in Manipur After Search Operations
Imphal: Security forces in Manipur conducted extensive search and area domination operations in the hill and valley districts, leading to the recovery of a significant cache of weapons.
The operation, which took place in the Fungei Ching Ngamukhong area of Thoubal District, resulted in the seizure of firearms, grenades, and other military equipment.
Among the recovered items were multiple firearms, including an SLR, SMG Carbine, 12 Bore Double Barrel Gun, and pistols (9 mm and .32 mm), along with six high-explosive grenades, two detonators, 39 live ammunition rounds, a Baofeng walkie-talkie, and five arming rings. These items were found in vulnerable areas, highlighting the ongoing security concerns in the region.
Earlier, on December 2, Manipur Police arrested four members of the KCP (PWG) militant group in Kakching Lamkhai, Kakching District. The arrested individuals—Sandham Premkumar Singh (45), Saikhom Sidan Singh (33), Nongmaithem Haridash Singh (56), and Khundogbam Tomba Singh (40)—were involved in extortion and the illegal possession of arms. During their arrest, police seized a 7.26×25 mm M20 Pistol with magazine, three live rounds, five mobile phones, a four-wheeler vehicle, demand letters, and 80 blank tax receipts linked to the KCP (PWG) organization.
The ongoing operations aim to curb militant activity and ensure the safety and security of the region.
