Security Forces Seize Arms Cache During Extensive Operations in Manipur’s Hill and Valley Districts
Imphal – In a bid to bolster security and maintain area domination, security forces conducted sweeping search operations across the hill and valley districts of Manipur, leading to the recovery of a significant cache of arms and ammunition.
The operations, aimed at countering ongoing security challenges, underscore the volatile situation in the region.
Among the seized items were one 9 mm pistol, two No. 36 HE grenades, two Chinese grenades, twelve live rounds of ammunition, one detonator, four empty magazines, one smoke grenade, one 38 mm anti-riot cartridge with a rubber bullet, one stinger cartridge, and six fired cases. The cache was recovered near Irong Hill close to the STNBA Gate in Thoubal District.
Beyond the arms seizure, security forces ensured the uninterrupted movement of essential goods by facilitating the passage of 204 vehicles on NH-37 and 280 vehicles on NH-2. These vital supply routes were monitored closely, with additional security convoys deployed to escort vehicles through vulnerable sections of the highways.
In an effort to further strengthen security, a total of 110 Nakas (checkpoints) were set up across Manipur’s hill and valley districts. No detentions were reported at these checkpoints, reflecting the disciplined approach of the security forces in maintaining peace and order.
The Manipur Police reaffirmed their commitment to working closely with stakeholders to safeguard peace and foster development in the state amid these challenging times.
