Security Forces Seize Large Cache of Arms and Explosives in Manipur

Imphal: Security forces in Manipur have conducted successful area domination exercises, resulting in significant recoveries of arms, ammunition, and explosives in the state’s hill and valley districts. The operations, carried out on March 28, were aimed at curbing illegal arms and militant activities in the region.

In one operation, conducted in the Naranseina and Sunusiphai village area under Moirang Police Station, Bishnupur District, security personnel seized a substantial cache of weaponry. The recovered items included firearms, ammunition, explosives, and security gear. Specifically, the haul consisted of various rifles, pistols, and machine guns, along with corresponding ammunition and magazines. Additionally, explosives, including hand grenades, detonators, and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), were recovered.

A separate operation at Wabagai Buffalo Farm under Kakching Police Station, Kakching District, yielded further recoveries. These included firearms, ammunition, explosives, and other items. The seized items comprised a single-barrel gun, live rounds, Chinese grenades, and various other explosive devices.

In another operation, conducted in Kamu village, Mapithel Ridge under Thoubal Dam Police Station, Imphal East District, forces discovered a cylindrical-shaped IED with 11 kg of explosives. Other recovered items included Pumpi Improvised Explosive Firing Devices, mortar bombs, and various weapon sights and accessories.

These operations demonstrate the ongoing efforts of security forces to maintain peace and stability in the region. Authorities have intensified surveillance and continue to conduct search operations to curb militant activities and ensure public safety.
