Security Tightened in North Tripura’s Kanchanpur Amid Reports of Extremist Movement

Agartala: Security has been strengthened in North Tripura’s Kanchanpur following reports of movement by extremist groups near the international border with Bangladesh.

While concrete evidence of their presence remains elusive, authorities have taken proactive measures to enhance surveillance. The 48-kilometer border, mostly fenced, shares a boundary with the Bangladeshi districts of Rangamati and Khagracherri.

The Superintendent of Police, North District, Avinash Kumar Rai, confirmed increased vigilance by the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Tripura State Rifles (TSR) in response to these reports. He emphasized that the border remains secure and special operations are underway in vulnerable areas of the Kanchanpur subdivision.

Despite these security measures, the Superintendent of Police assured that the law and order situation is under control, and all development projects are progressing as planned within the subdivision.
