Guwahati: Paban Kumar Borthakur, a senior IAS officer, was appointed as the new Chief Secretary of the Government of Assam, on Wednesday.
Borthakur, an IAS official from the 1989 batch, has replaced Jishnu Barua as the leader.
“Shri Paban Kumar Borthakur, IAS is appointed as Chief Secretary to the Government of Assam with effect from the date of superannuation of Shri Jishnu Barua, IAS, Chief Secretary, Assam on August 31, 2022,” said an official notification.
Previously, the Assam government’s T&D and Personnel departments assigned Paban Kumar Borthakur to the position of Additional Chief Secretary.
The notification stated that Jishnu Barua would remain in his position as chairman of the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) for a term of two years beginning today or until further direction.
