Several teachers injured in lathi charge in Tripura

Guwahati: Teachers staging protests in front of the residence of the state’s education minister Ratan Lal Nath were beaten by the Tripura Police with lathi charges on Tuesday.

The teachers who were launching agitations to demand employment were STGTs (Selection Test for Graduate Teachers).

Numerous teachers reportedly suffered injuries during the protests.

One of the teachers who were protesting said, “We initially met with the education minister to find out if we would be hired or not. He instructed us to meet with the Finance Minister, who informed us that all would be resolved provided the Education department processed the files. The education minister declined to meet with us when we returned with our requests. Future concerns are on our minds “.
