Severe Flooding in Thoubal District: DDMA Issues Urgent Advisory for Residents to Stay Indoors

Northeast Desk, 25th August: Continuous heavy rainfall over the past few days has resulted in severe flooding in Khangabok and surrounding villages within Manipur’s Thoubal district. In response to the escalating situation, the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has issued an urgent public advisory, urging residents to exercise extreme caution and remain indoors.

The DDMA’s advisory emphasizes the gravity of the situation, particularly for those residing in flood-affected areas. The notice reads, “In view of the urgent nature and unexpected heavy rainfall which occurred in Thoubal District in the last few days, and as a precautionary measure, the public of Thoubal District, especially those affected by the flood, is hereby advised to stay alert and remain indoors, taking all necessary precautions to avoid loss of life and property.”

The advisory reflects the urgent need for residents to prioritize safety during this critical period. Authorities have mobilized resources to manage the flood situation, but the intensity of the rainfall has created hazardous conditions across the district. The public is encouraged to adhere to the DDMA’s guidelines to minimize risks and ensure the safety of themselves and their families.

Local officials are closely monitoring the situation and have warned of the potential for further rainfall in the coming days, which could exacerbate the flooding. The DDMA’s advisory is expected to remain in effect until conditions improve.

Residents are advised to stay updated through official channels for further instructions and to avoid unnecessary travel in the affected areas.
