Severe storm causes extensive damage in Assam’s Cachar

Guwahati: A strong storm hit Jalalpore under Katigorah constituency in Cachar district of Assam on Friday evening, causing extensive damage to homes and small businesses.

As a result of the severe storm, trees were uprooted and many homes’ roofs were blown off. Residents in the area were given 15 tarpaulins. Electricity has also been turned off throughout the area after heavy winds destroyed electric poles.

In the meantime, the Border Security Force (BSF) camp in Balicherra has been destroyed by the strong winds.

Reportedly, two BSF jawans have been hurt.

It may be mentioned that no casualties have been recorded.
