Sheikh Hasina Faces New Legal Action as Fresh Case Alleges Attempted Murder During Protests

International Desk, 15th September: In a significant development, Sheikh Hasina, the former Prime Minister of Bangladesh, is now confronted with a new legal battle. A fresh case has been filed against her and 58 other individuals, accusing them of attempting to murder a student amid the violent clashes that led to her ousting.

The unrest, which resulted in Hasina’s resignation on August 5 and her subsequent departure to India, was sparked by widespread protests against a controversial quota system in government jobs. The latest legal action, filed on September 14 by 22-year-old Fahim Faisal, alleges that he was shot and injured during an anti-government demonstration in Dinajpur on August 4, just before the fall of Hasina’s government.

This new case adds to the mounting list of legal troubles for Hasina, bringing the total number of cases against her to 155. This includes 136 murder charges, seven for crimes against humanity, and eight for attempted murder.
