Sheikh Hasina To Meet PM Modi Today

Guwahati: Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will meet with Narendra Modi on Tuesday during her four-day visit to India.

Hasina began her four-day visit to India yesterday as Bangladesh is a key partner under the nation’s “Neighborhood First” strategy.

The Bangladeshi prime minister met with external affairs minister S Jaishankar after arriving in New Delhi to address matters of mutual interest. She next went to the national capital’s Nizamuddin Aulia Dargah, a popular destination for pilgrims.

Both India and Bangladesh have achieved real results in a number of areas, including the resolution of land and maritime boundary demarcation, security, connectivity, development cooperation, cultural exchange, power and energy, trade and commerce, blue economy, and defence under the leadership of their respective leaders.

Darshana Jardosh, the state minister of textiles and railways in Delhi, welcomed PM Hasina as she arrived. Her visit is significant and will improve the complex connection between the two countries.

The upgrading of defence cooperation, developing regional connectivity efforts, and creating stability in South Asia are the themes that are at the top of the agenda for her visit.

Additionally, PM Hasina is due to meet with Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and President Droupadi Murmu today.

It should be mentioned that this is her first trip since the 50th anniversary of India and Bangladesh’s bilateral relations in 2021. In addition, last year marked the 100th birthday of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the country’s founding father, as well as the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh’s independence.

In 2021, PM Modi travelled to Bangladesh. The two prime ministers have spoken twelve times since 2015.

The countries have worked to develop a model for regional cooperation in addition to renewing a number of connectivity initiatives during the past few years. Akhaura-Agartala rail service is expected to resume soon and within a few weeks, air service between Agartala and Chittagong is also anticipated.
