Shillong’s Angelia N Marweiñ to Represent Meghalaya at Femina Miss India 2024

Northeast Desk, 28th August: Angelia N Marweiñ, a 24-year-old graduate in Political Science from Shillong, has been chosen to represent Meghalaya in the upcoming Femina Miss India 2024 pageant. This prestigious event, now in its 60th edition, will see participants from all 29 states of India, along with a collective representative for the Union Territories.

Currently pursuing her postgraduate studies, Angelia balances her academic commitments with a burgeoning career in modeling. Her involvement in social work, particularly with the EARMACS organization, highlights her dedication to promoting rural development and local produce.

Expressing her excitement, Angelia shared, “It is an incredible honor to represent the beautiful state of Meghalaya in the Femina Miss India 2024 pageant. This is a dream come true, and I am privileged to showcase not only my journey but also the rich culture and heritage of my home state on such a significant platform.”

Angelia hails from the matrilineal Khasi society and is a passionate advocate for women’s rights and gender equality. Her academic focus includes a dissertation on the Maitshaphrang Movement, which examines its role in advancing gender equality within Khasi society.

As she prepares for the competition, Angelia is leaving no stone unturned. “Being new to this platform has only motivated me to work harder. I am focusing on every aspect, from grooming and fitness to understanding what it truly means to be Miss India,” she explained.

In addition to her academic and modeling pursuits, Angelia is also deeply interested in music, dance, and athletics. She has a background in track and field sports and basketball, having participated at the school level. Her modeling career has already seen her walk for notable brands like Jade by Monica and Karishma, as well as other prestigious labels at Delhi Times Fashion Week.

Looking ahead, Angelia is determined to use her platform to address important issues affecting her community in Meghalaya, including education, women’s empowerment, and cultural preservation.

The Femina Miss India 2024 winner will go on to represent India at the 73rd Miss World pageant, where the reigning Miss India, Nandini Gupta of Rajasthan, will crown her successor.
