Shiv Sena leader detained by Guwahati Police near Radisson Blu Hotel
Guwahati: As the continuing Maharashtra crisis plays out in Guwahati, a “leader” of the Shiv Sena was detained by the police on Friday outside the five-star hotel where party rebel Eknath Shinde and other dissidents are staying.
Sanjay Bhosale, who describes himself as the deputy president of the Shiv Sena’s Satara district office in Maharashtra was carrying a sign before being taken away by police in a car asking with Shinde to return to “Matoshree,” the private residence of Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray.
“I am a Shiv Sena deputy district chief and a native of Satara district. I am a devoted party worker, much like Shinde. I want to inform Shinde that Shiv Sena has given him a lot and he should go back to Matoshree,” Bhosale said to a television station in Guwahati,
Bhosale was detained for reportedly protesting in front of a hotel where Section 144 of the CrPC had been enforced without “seeking permission.”
“He was imprisoned because he was annoying people in a public place without permission. Under the condition of anonymity, a local police officer said, “We are not yet certain whether he is a Shiv Sena member or not.
A different Shiv Sena MLA named Dilip Lande is reportedly making his way to Guwahati today to join the Shinde camp. There would be 38 Shiv Sena lawmakers in the rebel camp whenever he arrives and checks into the hotel.
The number of lawmakers required to split the Hindutva party is present in the Eknath Shinde-led renegade Shiv Sena group.
