Guwahati, 3rd September: In a deeply distressing incident, a mother fell victim to matricide in Assam’s Nalbari, as her son allegedly killed her on Saturday night.
The tragic incident unfolded in Kayakuchi village, falling under the jurisdiction of Ghograpar Police Station. Reports indicate that the accused brutally assaulted his mother, Kamini Kalita, ultimately leading to her untimely demise.
Local residents promptly alerted the authorities on the following morning, leading to the swift apprehension of the accused, identified as Rupam Kalita.
During the investigation, the police discovered a pair of scissors at the scene. However, Rupam denied using this tool in the fatal attack, admitting instead that he had physically assaulted his mother while under the influence of alcohol, resulting in her tragic death.
Disturbingly, it has come to light that the accused had subjected his mother to relentless abuse, with yesterday’s incident allegedly triggered by a dispute over money.
