Shocking Scam: Fake Assam Police Sub-Inspector Accused of Embezzlement

Guwahati, 1st August: Startling revelations have come to light as reports emerged on Tuesday, accusing an individual of masterminding an embezzlement scheme, defrauding victims of crores of rupees under the guise of being a Sub-Inspector (SI) of Assam Police.

The fraudster, identified as Munindra Konwar, allegedly orchestrated the scam by exploiting the issuance of liquor shop licenses, deceiving victims into parting with massive amounts of money.

Multiple complaints have been lodged against Munindra Konwar at Crime Investigation Department (CID), Assam, Dispur Police Station, and the DCP (East) office.

Operating from Tezpur, the accused impersonated an SI, skillfully tricking victims into providing money in exchange for their needs.

The modus operandi involved Munindra Konwar posing in a police uniform, driving an Audi car, and creating an illusion of legitimacy by initiating conversations between the victims and the Assam Chief Minister’s Officer on Special Duty (OSD).

As the shocking truth came to light, Munindra Konwar is currently on the run, and authorities are making all-out efforts to apprehend him.

Notably, this is not Munindra Konwar’s first brush with the law. In 2017, he faced arrest on charges of cheating at least 36 youths, luring them with false promises of securing food supply contracts at Tezpur Medical College and Hospital in Sonitpur district.

The public is cautioned to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. The investigation into this elaborate embezzlement scam is ongoing, and authorities are determined to bring the perpetrator to justice.
