Short circuit sparks major panic at GMCH, No Casualty
Guwahati: A short circuit that resulted in smoke at the Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) in Guwahati sparked fear and required the evacuation of numerous OPD patients on Saturday afternoon.
According to reports, the GMCH authority detected the power issue right away and ordered that the switchboard’s Miniature Circuit Breaker (MCB) be replaced.
Fortunately, no unwanted incident occurred as a result of the accident, said GMCH superintendent Abhijit Sarma.
“We instantly identified the MCB switchboard short circuit and therefore instructed our experts to replace the MCB. Nothing to be concerned about. There was no unfavourable event reported. Given the size of GMCH, such power faults are possible; the important question is how long it took for us to identify the fault. We were able to gain control of the situation because the detection took place quickly. Everything is back to normal,” said Superintendent Abhijit Sarma.
