SI Exam Scam: PK Dutta, the Prime Suspect, was Granted Bail
Guwahati: The Gauhati High Court has granted bail to former Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) P K Dutta in connection with the SI exam scam case that shook the state in 2021.
On behalf of the government, attorney Dhanesh Das contested Dutta’s bail request, which had been denied the previous year.
On October 6 of last year, Dutta was detained by the Special Branch of the Darjeeling district while travelling with his son-in-law across the Assam-Nepal border.
According to reports, Dutta is the main suspect in the matter of the SI exam paper leak.
Along with four other suspects—Kumar Sanjit Krishna, Rupam Das, Sarat Sarma, and Rubul Hazarika—he was taken into custody.
