Significant Dip in Pass Percentage Marks Assam HSLC Results

Guwahati, Assam – The Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB) has announced the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Class 10 examination results today, April 11, at 10:30 am, revealing a notable decrease in the overall pass rate compared to the previous academic year.

This year, the overall pass percentage recorded is 63.98 per cent, a considerable drop from the 75.7 per cent achieved in the last examination cycle. Out of the 4,29,449 students who had registered for the HSLC exams, 4,22,737 appeared, while 6,712 candidates were absent. Official figures also indicate that the results of 22 students have been withheld, and disciplinary action led to the expulsion of 101 candidates during the examination period.

The HSLC examinations for the academic year 2024-2025 were conducted across the state from February 15 to March 3, 2025. Prior to the written examinations, practical tests were held on January 21 and 22.

An analysis of the results based on divisions shows that 89,041 students secured first division, 1,35,568 students passed with second division, and 45,862 students attained third division.

In terms of gender-based performance, male candidates demonstrated a higher pass percentage of 67.59 per cent compared to female candidates, who recorded a pass rate of 61.09 per cent. The total number of male students who appeared for the examination was 1,87,752, while 2,34,985 female students took the test.

District-wise, Sivasagar emerged as the top-performing district with an impressive pass percentage of 85.55 per cent. Dibrugarh secured the second position with 81.10 per cent, followed closely by Dhemaji at 80.64 per cent. Conversely, Sribhumi district registered the lowest pass rate in the state, with only 47.96 per cent of its students successfully clearing the examination, highlighting disparities in educational outcomes across different regions of Assam.

Students who appeared for the examination can now access their results through the official websites of the board, including asseb.in, sebaonline.org, and resultsassam.nic.in. To view their results, candidates will need to enter their roll number along with a provided captcha code. Furthermore, digital marksheets will also be made available through the DigiLocker platform. To be declared pass, students were required to secure a minimum of 30 per cent marks in each subject.

Assam’s Education Minister, Ranoj Pegu, officially announced the release of the results and advised all students to carefully verify the details mentioned on their provisional marksheets. He also informed that the original marksheets would be distributed to the respective schools at a later date.
