Significant Drug Seizure at Assam-Nagaland Border; Two Arrested Including Alleged Peddler

Guwahati, 23rd June: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Uriamghat police, stationed on the Assam-Nagaland border, conducted a successful raid at Dayalpur No. 3, resulting in the seizure of a substantial quantity of heroin. The operation led to the arrest of two individuals, including the alleged drug peddler Rahima Khatun.

Acting on actionable intelligence, the police raided Rahima Khatun’s residence and uncovered 269.94 grams of heroin concealed within 24 soap boxes. The swift and efficient operation ensured the successful confiscation of the narcotics.

Following her apprehension, Rahima Khatun admitted to her involvement in the illicit drug trade, which subsequently led to the arrest of Saha Ali. Both suspects are currently in police custody undergoing interrogation to unravel further details about the drug network’s operations.

This seizure marks a significant milestone for the local police in their ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region. Authorities are continuing their investigation with the goal of dismantling the entire supply chain associated with heroin trafficking.

Uriamghat, situated strategically on the Assam-Nagaland border in Golaghat district, has long been a focal point for law enforcement due to its geographical importance and the prevalent cross-border drug smuggling activities.
