Sikkim: 5 people including minor attacked by man with axe in Soreng
Northeast Desk, 7th November: A disturbing incident rocked the village of Jushingthang in Sikkim’s Soreng District on Monday. Local Panchayat authorities have revealed a horrifying attack allegedly perpetrated by a 41-year-old man named Phurba Bhutia.
The victims of this ruthless assault include Phurba Bhutia’s wife, Phurba Lhamu Bhutia, his daughter Yangchen Doma Bhutia, a 16-year-old named Namit Lepcha, Passang Choden Lepcha, and an innocent 5-year-old child named Sangmo Bhutia. The victims sustained grievous injuries in the attack.
Immediately responding to this tragic incident, the local Panchayat wasted no time and filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the accused at the Kaluk Police Station.
Consequently, Phurba Bhutia was taken into custody by the authorities.
The accused now faces serious charges under sections 307/326 of the Indian Penal Code, underscoring the gravity of the offenses he is alleged to have committed.
Meanwhile, the victims are currently under medical care at the STNM Hospital in Gangtok as they embark on their journey to recovery and healing. The motive behind this attack is yet to be ascertained.
