Sikkim: Aditya Golay Confident of Historic Victory in Soreng-Chakung Elections Amidst Opposition Allegations
Soreng— Aditya Golay, the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) candidate for the Soreng-Chakung constituency, has firmly countered recent allegations of electoral misconduct made by opposition parties, asserting that his party is well-prepared to achieve a historic victory in the upcoming elections.
In a press briefing, Golay expressed his gratitude for his nomination, highlighting the robust support he received from local party workers who advocated for his candidacy. “Thank you to the party supporters of Soreng-Chakung who raised their voices for me to be their candidate. It is an honor to represent them,” he stated, underscoring the unity and determination within the SKM ranks.
Responding to comments from rival candidate Prem Bahadur Bhandari, Golay characterized Bhandari’s criticisms as personal and expressed a willingness to collaborate on future development initiatives for the constituency. “I remain hopeful for future collaboration for the constituency’s development,” he remarked.
When pressed about the allegations surrounding the electoral process, Golay dismissed these claims, urging critics to consult the Assistant Returning Officer (ARO) for factual clarification. “I have no comment on those allegations, as they have been dismissed on technical grounds,” he stated confidently.
Golay articulated the SKM’s ambition to secure all 32 seats in Sikkim, acknowledging the party’s near success in previous elections, where they lost only one seat. “With recent developments, I believe we can achieve our goal. We have much work ahead to ensure that public benefits are delivered efficiently,” he affirmed, emphasizing the party’s commitment to public service.
Focusing on the youth demographic in Soreng-Chakung, Golay expressed his intention to actively engage with younger constituents. “The needs of the youth will evolve, and we must adapt our policies accordingly. I plan to actively involve them in our initiatives and ensure their voices are heard,” he stated, reflecting a forward-thinking approach to governance.
On the party’s past achievements, Golay acknowledged the ongoing challenge of maintaining and enhancing public services. “My primary agenda is to systematize our efforts over the past five years. We need structured boards for health, advisory services, and public benefits,” he explained.
As the election date approaches, Golay remains optimistic about surpassing the 10,480 votes garnered in the last general elections under the leadership of SKM president P.S. Golay. “While we may not have broken that record yet, I am confident that with the support of our party, we will exceed expectations in this election,” he stated.
Despite ongoing controversies and allegations from opposition and external parties, Golay maintained that the SKM operates transparently and on factual grounds. “The Election Commission is an independent body, and all decisions are made based on factual grounds. If they wish to pursue legal action, they are welcome to do so,” he concluded, reiterating his confidence in the electoral process and the SKM’s integrity.
