Sikkim and Nagaland Crowned Joint Winners of Inaugural NECDC Women’s T20 Tournament

Sports Desk, 6th October: The Sikkim Senior Women’s Cricket Team and Nagaland have been declared joint winners of the inaugural NECDC Senior Women’s Interstate Friendship T20 Tournament, after the final match was called off due to heavy rain in Nongkhrah, Meghalaya.

Sikkim emerged as a dominant force throughout the tournament, remaining undefeated and finishing the group stages in top position with eight points. One of their key victories came against Nagaland, where they triumphed by four wickets, underscoring their strength in the competition.

The tournament, organized by the North East Cricket Development Council (NECDC) and hosted by the Meghalaya Cricket Association, featured teams from six northeastern states: Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Sikkim. It provided a platform to showcase regional cricket talent and offered valuable preparation for future tournaments.

Looking ahead, the Sikkim team will now gear up for their participation in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy, set to take place in Lucknow from October 17 to 24.

Tika Subba, President of the Sikkim Cricket Association, expressed pride in the team’s outstanding performance. “We are confident this experience will strengthen our players as they move forward into the domestic season with renewed determination,” he said, reflecting optimism for the team’s future prospects.
