Sikkim Artistes to Showcase Traditional Dances at Republic Day Celebrations in Delhi

Gangtok: Sikkim’s vibrant cultural heritage will take center stage at the Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi on January 26.

Artistes from the state are set to mesmerize the audience with traditional dance performances during the cultural event following the parade.

Among the highlights is the Singhi Chham, or Snow Lion Dance, presented by the Culture Department of Sikkim.

This traditional dance, symbolic of the snow lion—an emblem of Sikkimese culture—is known for its striking costumes and graceful, rhythmic movements.

Additionally, empaneled artistes from Taal Music, Namchi, and Sukhim United Dance Academy, Soreng, will perform the lively Tamang Selo dance.

This energetic dance, accompanied by melodious tunes, reflects the cultural vibrancy of Sikkim’s Tamang community and is celebrated for its dynamic steps and festive spirit.

The inclusion of these performances at the national event comes as a special invitation from the Sangeet Natak Akademi, highlighting the rich artistic traditions of Sikkim and their place in India’s diverse cultural tapestry.
