Sikkim bans packaged drinking water
Guwahati: The Sikkim Government has announced that there will be a ban on packaged drinking water in Sikkim. The government while announcing this said that there will be a buffer time of three months before the ban takes place in the state.
Sikkim Chief Minister PS Tamang said that the bottles will be banned from January 1, 2022. He also stated that Sikkim is blessed with natural resources of drinking water.
CM Tamang further stated that once the ban is implemented, the people in the state will opt for natural sources of water which are always healthier than the packaged ones.
It may be mentioned that the government has allowed a three month-buffer time for the clearance of existing stock.
