Sikkim BJP Champions Central Welfare Schemes in Majhitar, Urges Widespread Participation

Gangtok: Majhitar, nestled in the West Pendam Constituency, witnessed a significant outreach effort on Saturday as the Sikkim Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organised a special drive to facilitate registrations for the Ayushman Bharat health scheme and the E-Shram card. The initiative, marked by a palpable sense of community participation, saw local residents converging in large numbers, reflecting a keen interest in availing the benefits of these crucial central government programmes. The event, held with the objective of bringing essential welfare schemes closer to the people, was bolstered by the enthusiastic support of party workers and leadership.

The drive was helmed by the Sikkim BJP State President, Shri DR Thapa, who led a delegation of senior party functionaries, including the District President, Mandal President, and members of the dedicated IT team. Addressing the gathering, Shri Thapa passionately articulated the vision behind Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s flagship welfare schemes, emphasising their role in fostering inclusive growth and socio-economic empowerment. He urged the people of Sikkim to embrace these opportunities, designed to create a safety net for the vulnerable and a platform for the aspiring.

A focal point of Shri Thapa’s address was the Lakhpati Didi scheme, a transformative initiative aimed at empowering rural women. He meticulously explained how the scheme functions as a catalyst for financial independence, enabling women to become self-reliant entrepreneurs through skill development and targeted financial assistance. The state president also cast a spotlight on the numerous loan and support schemes available for youth, encouraging young people and aspiring entrepreneurs in the region to actively tap into these opportunities to build their futures.

In a gesture of appreciation, Shri Thapa extended his heartfelt congratulations to the farmers of Sikkim for their successful enrolment in the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme. He underscored the government’s steadfast commitment to the agricultural community, reiterating that such direct financial aid is a testament to the nation’s recognition of farmers as its backbone. The day’s drive, with its twin focus on Ayushman Bharat and E-Shram, saw volunteers and technical teams working tirelessly to assist residents, helping them navigate the registration process, clear their queries, and understand the long-term security these cards promise.
