Sikkim BJP Leader Calls for United Stand Against Fraudulent Citizenship

GANGTOK – In a powerful address on Wednesday, Tseten Tashi Bhutia, the Chief Advisor to the BJP Sikkim unit, urged the people of the state to unite against what he described as a growing threat of fake citizenship and fraudulent documentation.

Bhutia’s appeal transcended political lines, framing the issue as a matter of securing Sikkim’s future and protecting national security. He highlighted years of persistent, yet largely unheeded, complaints about fake voter cards, duplicate identity documents, and illegal citizenship claims. Bhutia lamented the lack of decisive action, noting that while some fraudulent documents had been cancelled, the problem persists. He went on to allege that some individuals with fake documentation have even infiltrated influential positions within the state.

Describing the trend as particularly dangerous for a border-sensitive and strategically important region like Sikkim, Bhutia warned that such cases not only defraud genuine Sikkimese citizens but also pose a grave threat to the nation’s security. “It is high time we wake up from our slumber and take a stand,” he implored, urging a collective effort for the sake of future generations.

He called for a joint initiative between the administration and the public to identify and remove fake document holders, insisting that firm, uncompromising measures are urgently needed to safeguard the rights and distinct identity of genuine Sikkimese citizens.
