Sikkim Budget Session Scheduled for August 5-9, Chief Minister Outlines Government Priorities
Northeast Desk, 20th July: Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang announced on Friday that the budget session of the Sikkim Assembly will be held from August 5 to 9. Addressing SKM MLAs in Mintokgang, he outlined the state government’s priorities for the next five years, which include:
- Infrastructure Focus: Emphasis on improving electricity, water supply, and road infrastructure.
- Sectoral Improvements: Enhancements in healthcare, education, tourism, and the implementation of welfare schemes.
- Revenue Growth: Strategies to boost the state’s revenue.
Tamang urged legislators to ensure proper inter-departmental coordination and to hold at least one public meeting weekly in their constituency offices to stay connected with constituents.
Additionally, Tamang mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Sikkim on the eve of its 50th anniversary of statehood. He encouraged all legislators to prepare for the year-long celebrations marking this significant milestone.
