Sikkim Cheers as MP Indra Hang Subba Takes Helm of FCI Consultative Committee
Gangtok: Sikkim is brimming with pride following the announcement of Lok Sabha MP Indra Hang Subba’s appointment as the Chairman of the Consultative Committee of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) for the state.
Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang led the felicitations, hailing the development as a significant milestone and a moment of immense honour for the Himalayan state. The Chief Minister conveyed his heartfelt wishes for Subba’s success in this pivotal national role.
Chief Minister Tamang articulated his optimism that this strategic appointment would significantly amplify Sikkim’s voice and concerns on the national stage, particularly regarding critical food supply and security matters. “Hearty congratulations to Hon’ble MP Lok Sabha, Shri Indra Hang Subba, on being nominated as the Chairman of the Consultative Committee of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) for Sikkim. Wishing him great success in this important role,” the Chief Minister stated, underlining the state’s collective sense of achievement.
Expressing profound gratitude, Chief Minister Tamang also extended his appreciation to the Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs for bestowing this crucial opportunity upon Sikkim. He underscored that such recognition is instrumental in bolstering the morale of public representatives and, more importantly, in fortifying the representation of smaller states like Sikkim in the formulation of central policies. “We are grateful to the Hon’ble Minister of Parliamentary Affairs for this significant appointment. Best wishes as he takes on this new responsibility in the service of Sikkim and the nation,” Tamang affirmed, highlighting the collaborative spirit.
Chief Minister Tamang further elaborated on the profound importance of Indra Hang Subba’s new responsibility, noting the critical role the Food Corporation of India plays in ensuring consistent food supply and robust food security across the nation, especially in the strategically vital Northeastern region. Given Sikkim’s distinctive geographical challenges as a hill state with complex logistical considerations, having a dedicated representative in such a high-level position is expected to facilitate a more effective and nuanced approach to addressing ground-level issues concerning food distribution and accessibility.
