Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang Attends Consecration Ceremony at Enchey Monastery
Northeast Desk, 10th February: On the auspicious occasion of Losar and Sonam Lochhar, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang graced the consecration ceremony of the Endum Chorten at Enchey Monastery this morning. HE Kyabje Tinkey Gonjang Rinpoche, presiding over the ceremony, consecrated the Endum Chorten, also known as the Stupa of Reconciliation. Alongside the Chief Minister, Minister Sonam Lama, Minister Kunga Nima Lepcha, Secretary of the Ecclesiastical Department, senior champolas, monks, and devotees were in attendance.
The Endum Chorten, one of the Eight Great Stupas, holds significant historical and symbolic importance, commemorating the Buddha’s reconciliation of disputing factions within the Sangha. Standing as a profound monument at Enchey Monastery, it features four octagonal steps symbolizing various levels of enlightenment. Its construction, guided by divination from HE Kyabje Tinkey Gonjang Rinpoche and Neychung, aimed to foster peace and harmony, supported by the Enchey Gonpa Duchi and funding from the State Government led by Chief Minister Prem Tamang.
Following prayers at the monastery and Endum Chorten, Chief Minister Tamang distributed grants to various religious institutions under the Ecclesiastical department. The Enchey monastery family expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for his significant contribution, emphasizing the profound impact of the Chorten’s construction on the well-being of Sikkim and its people.
