Sikkim CM Chairs High-Level Meeting to Address Natural Calamity

Northeast Desk, 14th June: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang convened a crucial meeting at Mintokgang on June 14 to tackle the severe impact of a recent natural calamity that has ravaged the state. The disaster has inflicted substantial damage to properties and disrupted vital infrastructure such as roads, power supply, food distribution, and mobile networks across several regions.

The meeting focused on devising strategic responses and coordinating efforts to restore normalcy swiftly and ensure the safety and welfare of residents. Officials provided comprehensive assessments of the damages, highlighting critical road blockages and immediate challenges faced by affected communities. They also updated on ongoing relief initiatives, including the deployment of emergency services and the distribution of essential supplies.

CM Tamang issued directives for rigorous monitoring of the situation and expediting efforts to reestablish connectivity and deliver relief aid promptly. He underscored the importance of continuous assessment to identify and prioritize critical areas needing immediate attention. Additionally, he appealed to the public to remain vigilant, adhere to safety protocols, and cooperate with authorities during this challenging period.

The meeting saw the participation of key officials including Rural Development Department Minister Arun Upreti, Roads and Bridges Minister NB Dahal, RDD Advisor Kala Rai, Power Department Advisor Sanjeet Kharel, Land Revenue & Disaster Management Advisor LB Das, the Chief Secretary, DGP, and secretaries from various departments, highlighting the government’s concerted effort in managing the crisis effectively.
