Sikkim CM Flags Off Marathoner for Nationwide Run to Mark 50 Years of Statehood

Gangtok: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on Wednesday flagged off Shanti Ram Nepal, a resident of Samdong, as he embarked on an ambitious marathon spanning 29 states across India.

The extraordinary journey is dedicated to commemorating 50 years of Sikkim’s statehood while promoting the vision of a Sunaulo (Golden), Samriddha (Prosperous), and Samartha (Capable) Sikkim.

Expressing his pride in Nepal’s initiative, CM Tamang lauded the marathoner’s dedication, stating, “His inspiring journey symbolizes the achievements of Sikkim over the past five decades and reflects the resilience and strength of our people.” The event marks a significant milestone in Sikkim’s history, reinforcing the state’s progress and aspirations on a national platform.

The state government extended its best wishes to Nepal, recognizing his role in spreading awareness about Sikkim’s rich Himalayan heritage and its unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability.
