Sikkim CM Prem Singh Tamang Meets JICA Delegation to Discuss Infrastructure Development Projects

Northeast Desk, 5th September: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang recently held discussions with a delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), led by Senior Director Mr. Sunouchi Tatsuhiko from Tokyo. The meeting focused on the progress of key infrastructure initiatives, including the submission of a Preliminary Project Report (PPR) by the Roads & Bridges Department to the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA), Government of India.

The PPR proposes the upgradation of four roads and one bridge in the state, with the goal of securing funding under JICA’s infrastructure development programs. The discussions highlighted the potential impact of these projects, with a focus on leveraging JICA’s technical expertise to ensure successful execution.

Emphasizing sustainable development, the meeting underscored the importance of adopting environmentally conscious practices while addressing the infrastructure needs of the community. Senior officials from the Roads & Bridges Department were also in attendance.

This engagement represents a significant step forward in strengthening Sikkim’s infrastructure and deepening collaboration between the state government and JICA.
