Sikkim CM PS Tamang Provides Distress Relief to Registered Labourers

Northeast Desk, 15th October: In a heartwarming gesture of support, Sikkim Chief Minister, Prem Singh Tamang, extended a helping hand to registered laborers by distributing distress relief assistance tokens. Cheques amounting to Rs. 10,000 each were disbursed to laborers who are registered under the Building and other Construction Workers Welfare Board (BOCW).

The distribution event, orchestrated by the Government of Sikkim, saw a substantial disbursement of Rs. 8 crore 70 lakh 33 thousand to assist 8,733 laborers, providing them with much-needed relief. The assistance was disbursed in the form of cheques and Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) through the Labor Department of the Government of Sikkim.

A significant number of laborers from Gangtok and Mangan Districts were among the beneficiaries of this relief program. The distribution ceremony took place at Chintan Bhawan in Gangtok, and it was an event filled with hope and support for the hardworking labor force.

The event was graced by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, who attended as the Chief Guest, reflecting the government’s commitment to aiding those in need during challenging times. This initiative underlines the government’s dedication to the welfare and well-being of the laborers who play an integral role in the development and progress of Sikkim.
