Gangtok: Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang of Sikkim personally presented a scooty to Sristi Darjee, a first-year Nepali Honours student from Gyalshing district, in a gesture aimed at alleviating her daily commute challenges and supporting her academic pursuits. The event was described by the Chief Minister as a deeply moving experience.
Sristi, the daughter of Om Prakash Darjee, a tailor residing in Upper Baluthang, had voiced her difficulties in traveling the considerable distance between her home and Sanchaman Limboo Government Degree College. The daily travel was consuming significant time and energy, directly impacting her studies, despite her unwavering commitment to education.
Upon learning of Sristi’s predicament, Chief Minister Tamang resolved to provide her with a government-funded scooty, ensuring a more comfortable and efficient means of transportation. He emphasized that no student should be hindered from accessing education due to resource limitations, reiterating the government’s commitment to empowering the youth and removing obstacles in their educational journey.
The Chief Minister extended his best wishes to Sristi, acknowledging her determination and expressing confidence in her future endeavors. This act of support has garnered widespread appreciation across Sikkim, with students, educators, and parents recognizing the government’s empathetic approach to addressing the challenges faced by students in remote areas.
