Sikkim Cycling Body Charts Ambitious Course for 2025

Gangtok: Gangtok witnessed a gathering of cycling enthusiasts as the Cycling Association of Sikkim (CAOS) convened its 2nd Annual General Meeting, reinforcing its dedication to the advancement of cycling both as a competitive sport and a unifying community activity throughout the state.

The assembly, held in the capital city, saw the participation of the association’s executive body alongside its registered members, all bound by a common aspiration to cultivate the burgeoning cycling environment within Sikkim.

The proceedings commenced with an encouraging address from the association’s president, establishing a positive and cooperative atmosphere for the discussions that followed.

A significant moment during the AGM was the formal recognition of the cyclists and their team manager who represented Sikkim with distinction at the 21st National Mountain Terrain Bike (MTB) Championship held in Panchkula, Haryana. Their dedication and performance were celebrated as a noteworthy achievement for the state’s growing cycling fraternity.

The association’s activities and accomplishments of the preceding year were meticulously presented by Publicity Secretary Tshering Gyatso, who highlighted the various grassroots programs and successful events undertaken. Subsequently, Treasurer Rinchen Kaleon presented the financial report for the fiscal year 2024-25, which received unanimous approval from the attending members.

The AGM also marked the adoption of important resolutions, including revisions to the association’s internal regulations pertaining to the appointment of executive members. Furthermore, four new members were inducted into the executive committee, a move aimed at bolstering the leadership structure. These changes were positively received as essential measures to improve accountability and operational effectiveness within the organisation.

Looking ahead, the association finalized its calendar of events for the year 2025. An exciting array of competitions and initiatives are planned, featuring the State Championships, the Gangtok Loop XCM, the Tsomgo XCM Challenge, the Chakung Pine XCO, and a series of awareness rides focused on popularizing cycling and promoting safety on the roads.
