Sikkim Driver Harassed by Two Men in Siliguri, Video Captures Altercation

Gangtok: A passenger vehicle driver from Sikkim faced harassment by two unidentified individuals in Siliguri, West Bengal, while waiting to pick up a guest near Tirupati Lodge Private Limited.

The incident, which has raised concerns about the safety of transport workers, was partially recorded on the driver’s mobile phone.

The driver was assigned to collect a guest and was approached by two men who aggressively demanded a ride despite his explanation that he was waiting for his assigned passenger. The video shows the driver calmly explaining the situation while the men reportedly became increasingly unruly.

“They started harassing me and demanding a pick-up even though I was waiting for my guest,” the driver stated in the footage. The situation escalated as the two men allegedly snatched the driver’s mobile phone and vehicle keys. They also grabbed his collar and tore his shirt during the altercation.

Fearing for his safety, the driver managed to close the car door to shield himself from further physical harm. However, the two men reportedly continued their aggressive behavior, causing distress and disruption.

The incident highlights the challenges faced by transport workers and the need for increased vigilance and support in ensuring their safety. Local authorities are yet to comment on the matter, and it remains unclear if a formal complaint has been filed.
