Sikkim: Eastern Command Conducts Annual Anti Tank Guided Missile (ATGM) Field Firing Exercise

Northeast Desk, 29th February: The annual Eastern Command Anti Tank Guided Missile (ATGM) field firing exercise was successfully held at Teesta Field Firing Range from February 20 to February 28. More than 1500 personnel from various units of Infantry and Mechanised Infantry Battalion participated in this command-level training exercise, demonstrating their proficiency and readiness.

Under the oversight of Trishakti Corps, the firing exercise aimed to enhance the effectiveness of ATGM operations, with a focus on achieving the objective of One Missile One Tank. Over 260 missiles were fired during the exercise, meticulously planned to simulate tactical scenarios where tanks play a pivotal role on the battlefield.

The ATGM detachments engaged targets from diverse platforms, including the newly inducted indigenous Light Strike Vehicle and ground-based units. Additionally, the exercise incorporated the practice of target engagement by detachments inserted via helicopters, showcasing comprehensive operational capabilities.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Trishakti Corps, present to witness the firing exercise, commended the troops for their professionalism and operational preparedness. He emphasized the importance of mastering this critical weapon system, underscoring its significance in modern warfare scenarios.
