Sikkim: Former SDF Leader Girish Rai Along with Ex-MLA Ugen Nedup Bhutia Joins BJP

Northeast, 13rd March: In a significant political development, former Minister Girish Rai, a founding member of the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF), and ex-MLA Ugen Nedup Bhutia have officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Their induction into the BJP ranks occurred during a joining program held on March 13.

The BJP’s state in-charge, Dr. Dilip Kumar Jaiswal, extended a warm welcome to the duo, along with several other social workers who also joined the BJP during the event.

Interestingly, SDF leader Girish Chandra Rai resigned from his post in Sikkim ahead of the upcoming elections, although the specific reasons for his resignation remain undisclosed. In his resignation letter, Rai expressed gratitude for the opportunities and experiences gained during his tenure with the party.

Meanwhile, the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) released its initial list of six candidates for the forthcoming Assembly elections, marking the beginning of the electoral process.
