Sikkim Gears Up to Celebrate 50 Years of Statehood with ‘Golden Jubilee Conclave’ in Gangtok
Gangtok: The Sikkim government, in collaboration with the Press Club of Sikkim, is set to mark a significant milestone — 50 years of Sikkim’s statehood — through a landmark event titled ‘Sikkim@50: Golden Jubilee Conclave 1975–2025’ to be held at Adampool in Gangtok.
Organised by the Information and Public Relations Department (IPR) and the Press Club, the conclave aims to celebrate Sikkim’s journey since its merger with India in 1975. The event will bring together a distinguished panel of thought leaders, policy experts, and cultural voices who will reflect on the state’s development and chart its vision for the future.
Press Club president Bhim Rawat said the conclave would not only honour Sikkim’s achievements but also highlight emerging investment opportunities and strategic prospects. “It will be a platform to discuss where Sikkim stands today and where it’s headed next,” Rawat told reporters.
Senior District Information Officer Sarojini Subba underscored the significance of the initiative in reinforcing the role of the media — the fourth pillar of democracy — in the state’s growth. She also noted the conclave’s importance in the current geopolitical climate, given Sikkim’s critical location on India’s northern frontier.
The conclave is expected to spotlight Sikkim’s evolution across sectors including governance, infrastructure, tourism, sustainability, and regional cooperation — making it a key cultural and political moment ahead of the 50th statehood anniversary in 2025.
