Sikkim Government Announces Ex-Gratia and Support Following Tragic Accident in Ranipur

Northeast Desk, 11th February: The Sikkim government has declared an ex-gratia payment of Rs 5 lakh for the family of the deceased following a devastating incident in Ranipur, where a truck collided with a fairground hosting a tambola program. Gangtok district magistrate Tushar Nikhare provided details to the media, explaining that the accident occurred around 7.30 pm on February 10 during the tambola event, resulting in the loss of three lives and leaving approximately 20 individuals injured and hospitalized.

Expressing condolences, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang conveyed his sympathies to the victims and their families via social media. CM Tamang assured that the government and district administration officials are actively engaged in rescue operations and ensuring that those injured receive necessary medical care.

“I am deeply saddened by the tragic accident that occurred in Ranipur. Our officials from the government and the District administration have been tirelessly dedicated to rescue operations, and those affected are currently receiving treatment at Manipal Hospital,” stated CM Tamang.

The Chief Minister pledged swift assistance for those impacted by covering all treatment expenses at Manipal Hospital or in referred cases, underscoring the government’s commitment to providing comprehensive support during this challenging period. CM Tamang extended heartfelt prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured and expressed profound condolences to the families of the deceased, urging for solace and peace for their departed souls.

Furthermore, the Sikkim government has announced its decision to bear the cost of treatment for the injured individuals and initiated an investigation into the tragic incident to ascertain its cause and prevent recurrence.
