Sikkim Government Announces Increase in Dearness Allowance for Employees and Pensioners
Northeast Desk, 1st October: The Government of Sikkim has officially announced an increase in the Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government employees and pensioners, set to take effect from January 1, 2024. A circular issued by the Finance Department specifies that the DA for employees and pensioners receiving pay under the pre-revised basic pay structure will rise from 230% to 239%.
For those on the revised pay structure, the DA will increase from 46% to 50%. This adjustment is based on recommendations from the Pay Committee and follows a previous circular released on June 17, 2024.
The DA increase will also benefit employees appointed on a contract basis and those working in work-charged establishments who receive pay in regular scales. Furthermore, All India Service Officers will receive similar adjustments: those in the pre-revised pay band will see their DA increase to 239%, while those on the revised pay structure will have their DA raised to 50%.
To ensure that all employees benefit from the adjustments, payments involving fractions of 50 paisa and above will be rounded off to the next higher rupee. This move is expected to provide much-needed financial relief to employees and pensioners across the state.
