Sikkim: Helicopter Joy Rides to Debut at Jorethang Maghey Mela 2025
Gangtok: Tourists and locals attending the Jorethang Maghey Mela 2025 will soon experience Sikkim’s breathtaking landscapes from above, with authorities introducing helicopter joy rides as part of the traditional fair’s attractions.
The initiative, spearheaded by Zoom-Salghari MLA Madan Cintury, marks a transformative addition to the centuries-old celebration of Sikkim’s cultural heritage. Two potential locations, the IRB Ground and JNV Playground, have been identified as bases for the helicopter operations after detailed site evaluations.
Test flights are scheduled in the coming weeks to assess landing conditions and ensure safety compliance. The final site selection will depend on technical feasibility and strict adherence to aviation safety standards.
The Maghey Mela, known for drawing thousands of visitors from across Northeast India, celebrates the region’s rich cultural traditions. With the introduction of helicopter rides, the event aims to offer attendees a unique perspective of Sikkim’s mountainous terrain and vibrant festivities.
This innovative addition is expected to enhance the appeal of the Maghey Mela, blending modern experiences with the state’s traditional charm, and attracting an even larger audience to the annual celebration.
