Sikkim: His Holiness Dalai Lama arrives to accorded warm reception
Northeast Desk, 11th December: His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama graced the state capital of Sikkim with his presence after a 13-year hiatus, marking the commencement of a three-day visit. Upon his arrival at the Libing Army Helipad in Gangtok, the revered spiritual leader received a warm reception from Tibetan representatives, religious dignitaries, and state officials, including Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang.
The visit holds special significance as His Holiness is scheduled to impart teachings on Gyalsey Thokme Sangpo’s “37 Practices of a Bodhisattva” at Paljor Stadium in Gangtok. The teachings are anticipated to draw a large gathering of devotees seeking spiritual guidance.
Following his arrival, traditional Buddhist rituals, including the sacred dance and prayer known as ‘Sherbang,’ were performed by monks from various monasteries in the State, creating an atmosphere charged with spiritual energy.
As His Holiness proceeded from Libing Helipad to Denzong Regency, devotees lined the path, eager to catch a glimpse of the spiritual leader and seek his blessings.
On the agenda for the visit is a one-day teaching session on Gyalsey Thokme Sangpo’s teachings at Paljor Stadium on Monday morning. Additionally, His Holiness will virtually lay the foundation stones for the Karmapa Park project at Rumtek and the Gyalwa Lhatsun Chenpo Statue project at Simmik Khamdong constituency, Gangtok district.
