Sikkim: Indian Army Initiates Helplines for Missing Individuals After Lake Burst

Northeast Desk, 5th October: In response to the devastating lake burst in Sikkim, the Indian Army has established three helpline numbers to aid families searching for missing individuals, including soldiers, in the aftermath of the tragedy. The incident, caused by heavy rainfall and flash floods along the Teesta River, has resulted in significant damage to homes and infrastructure in the region.

The three helpline numbers are as follows:

  • Army Helpline for North Sikkim: 8750887741
  • Army Helpline for East Sikkim: 8756991895
  • Army Helpline for missing soldiers: 7588302011

The current death toll stands at 18, with 102 people reported missing, including 22 members of the Indian Army. Search and rescue operations are actively underway to locate the missing individuals, with one soldier already rescued and in stable condition at a hospital.
