Northeast Desk, 2nd August: In a tragic incident in Sikkim’s Jorethang town, a 37-year-old man, Bhim Kumar Rai, has been arrested for allegedly killing his wife, Smrita Rai, following a domestic dispute.
According to police reports, the altercation occurred around 1 am at the couple’s rented accommodation. During the argument, Bhim Kumar Rai reportedly used a sharp weapon to fatally attack Smrita Rai, who was 33 years old.
Following the incident, Rai turned himself in at the Jorethang police station. Authorities have initiated an investigation into the case, and more details are expected as the inquiry progresses.
The couple’s two young children have been placed in the care of other family members. The police are continuing their investigation to determine the full circumstances surrounding the crime.
